Day 31, only 334
Here's a thought
Sitting here watching the the NAACP Image Awards and my initial thought was; "we're still colored?" (My other thought was; "why are you procrastinating, you have a truck load of work to do!")
But it got me thinking about the circular descriptions that have evolved and been attributed to ... ur, em, hmmm... folk!!!
When I was a child we were colored
As a teenager we became (right on!) black
Then as college students we were Afro-Caribbean (UK) and Afro American (US)
As a grad student African American became the flavor
A new and enlightened consciousness finally brought us people of color.
(Sorry gangsta rappers we were never 'n' words)
We owe a huge debt of gratitude to the geniuses that brought us people of color. OK, seriously, was it it a bet to see if anyone would notice that you had brought us full circle in our descriptions of ourselves? Or better still, someone who cares as much about black as they do blancmange came up with it as a devisive tool to remove folks from a discussion of real and meaningful issues.
Just a thought!
Still wandering about NAACP though.

Wow, you never realise how people have us buying into their mind games until you just do a simple bit of research. Well spotted
